We selected J P Burgess Construction from a competitive tendering process for two >£1m civils construction projects. One plant was an In Vessel Composting Plant and the second was a pioneering Anaerobic Waste Digestion plant.

The composting plant was a relatively straight forward build and being completed on time and on budget seemed a reasonable ask. However, this did not take into account the harsh weather conditions encountered between December 2009 and February 2010, causing the programme to be severely disrupted. To counter this, J P Burgess, led by Paul Burgess on the site, wrestled the programme back on track in atrocious conditions whilst maintaining the quoted price. This was a truly impressive delivery and one that has drawn comment and praise not only from the Board of Agrivert but also from third parties who witnessed it.

The Anaerobic Digestion plant construction was undertaken in kinder conditions but it needed Agrivert and J P Burgess to innovate and adapt during the build in order to prevent site conditions and technical needs being compromised. J P Burgess accommodate innovation and change, where reasonable, in a constructive and honest manner and are refreshing in their cooperation to maintain the project ideal and momentum.

I have no hesitation in recommending J P Burgess as a civils contractor and have been most impressed by their approach in timing, pricing and cooperation.
